Community round-up · 10 October 2026 · Brent Knoll and East Brent
Residents of East Brent may also be interested in the community programme next door in Brent Knoll, including parish hall activities, opportunities at the village school and local charity work.
Bazaar, farmers’ market and parish café
Brent Knoll Parish Hall advertises a bazaar, farmers’ market and café on the second Saturday of the month, usually 10am–12 noon. Local stalls and refreshments make this a regular meeting point. The October and November dates should be checked with the organisers before a special journey; schedules can change.
Venue: Brent Knoll Parish Hall, Brent Street, TA9 4EH. Source: Brent Knoll village newsletter (published recurring schedule) and official village website.
School and pre-school recruitment
The Brent Knoll C of E Primary School website reported two pre-school SEND 1:1 positions on 7 October, together with a lunchtime supervisor opportunity on 5 October. Applicants should check the school’s current vacancies page for closing dates and whether the posts remain open.
Local shanty group helps children’s hospice
The Beach’d Buoys sea-shanty group, which has rehearsed at the Brent Knoll Inn, presented £7,000 to Children’s Hospice South West in August 2026, raised through a year of performances and collections. Their wider fundraising since Covid had then exceeded £25,000.

The pub also advertises bingo, crochet, skittles, a baby-and-toddler group and live music, but dates for those activities need confirmation: check the Brent Knoll Inn’s latest notices.

Recycling and green waste: check your own collection address
The Brent Knoll diary includes notices such as “SORT IT+ Recycling Early!!” and “Green Waste Collection Early!!”. These notices are for the council’s local diary and must not be assumed to give East Brent or Church Road bin collection dates. For your own address, use Somerset Council’s official collection-day lookup rather than extrapolating from neighbouring villages.
